We are one of the oldest nations in the history of the planet - over a billion people living together for over 5000 years. A land rich in tradition, heritage and humanity, India is destined to be a force to be reckoned with. Our rich diversity of people, culture, resources and geography give us a unique opportunity to enrich the world we live in.

However, countless events, big and small, have shaped India's present. The promises of the past that could have unified Indians for all time have sadly left us divided. India - once resplendent, proud and unified - today faces one the biggest humanitarian challenges of its history. There is a deep rooted current of division running across the country. Wherein a fragment of India's population has seen unprecedented success, there are millions of Indians still living literally in the darkness.

Millions of Indians are battling with some or the other form of discrimination and injustice. Somewhere, somehow these voices have been lost in the din of fragmented success. And it is our endeavour to find these small voices once again and make them heard.

A nation where citizens proactively come together to WRITE every WRONG, uphold the values of democracy and reclaim the core essence of DEMOCRACY (which means PEOPLE POWER) by sharing their views/ news on socio political issues to create citizen action for social justice.

To be the voice for citizen action - a voice for the voiceless, a voice for the great Indian middle class, a platform to raise a voice against injustice - anywhere, and in any form. A platform to raise against any powers a voice regardless of the consequences. To raise a voice and make sure it is heard. To raise a voice against the wrongs we see every day. To raise a voice that takes a stand - to RIGHT those WRONGS. idishoom is our collective voice when we look around us, and feel like saying "That's simply not done! Somebody has to change that!". That somebody is you and me the, citizens of the world's largest democracy called India.

 OUR METHODOLOGY

We believe in the power of collective action and voice - the unbiased thoughts and ideas of every citizen of India. We aim to create an online information sharing portal to spread information on social issues, current affairs, revolutionary citizens, future leaders, CSR, media and every societal issue that we can attend to as a united voice.

 

 OUR CORE CHARTER

Citizen Reporting & Writing (CRW): the only sacrosanct space where citizens can "write every wrong" and report on socio-political ills that are plaguing our society.

People Sector campaigning (PSC): Dedicated and sustainable campaigns to benefit the collectible citizenship of India.

Citizen Service appeals (CSA): In a world where media space is frightfully expensive a first of its kind outreach to over 1 million citizens to support other citizens and children in need.

Citizen supporter Involvement (CSI): Encouraging citizen action for social justice issues by effective dissemination of information by experts and eminent thought leaders.

Citizen Action Networks (CAN): Building likeminded citizen networks who can connect, stand up to speak out against all the wrongs in our society and also blog on idishoom for public interest.

idishoom is the voice for citizen action and the PUBLIC ADVOCACY media initiative of the RIGHT every WRONG movement for social justice & citizen action. idishoom was launched at midnight on 15th August, 2007 as dishoooom.com to celebrate 60 years of independence by making citizens address social issues. Over the past 3 years idishoom.com has been gathering huge momentum and we now have over 1 million subscribers and based on feedback from various citizens we rechristened to idishoom and relaunched with a cutting edge new design and format on 26th November 2009 to celebrate the National Social Justice & citizen action day as we. In the past 3 years idishoom has fulfilled its charter as given above and supported various social initiatives, and has also endeavoured to create online campaigns and raise funds for children and people who have been terminally ill thus also creating a space for citizen outreach sans the big advertising costs of such appeals in newspapers.

idishoom.com is the only media movement of its kind and fundamentally run by voluntary citizen editors and reporters (there are no paid editors or reporters and all work voluntary for the citizen movement) , with a strong support from iCONGO - Indian Confederation of NGOs. We as responsible and concerned citizens have created idishoom as a platform for all of us to raise our voice against social inequities and injustice - anywhere, and in any form. idishoom is OUR open forum to pack a hard punch through our candid writings and raise a strong collective voice against any socio-political issues plaguing our country regardless of whosoever or whatever powers we may be standing up and speaking out against. To raise a voice against the wrongs we see every day. idishoom is our collective voice when we look around us, and feel like saying "That's simply not done! SOMEBODY has to change that!"

We believe in honest reporting and frank discussion. Here at idishoom we take Collective Action into consideration - the unbiased thoughts and ideas of every citizen of India.
