Celebrating Children’s Day, November 14th, 2009 (1.00 pm, Khushi Home, Okhla Industrial Area Phase II)

This is our reality. It’s time to stop denying it, and to recognize it. Everyone can contribute something.

Hi!

Music Basti would like to invite you to a program we are hosting at Khushi Home (run by Aman Biradari) on the 14th November,

2009, Children’s Day, with the theme of celebrating  Being a Child.

We would be extremely happy to have you participate in this program. The program is not only about scheduled performance but

also about simply bringing people together.

The event marks a milestone that Music Basti and its involved partners have reached in expanding outreach to over 200 children

. The program is a positive journey to explore the role of the children as the heart and center of this movement for change, and

examine ways to increase it.

The program is aimed to synergize the work that partners including Aman Biradri, The YP Foundation,Bridge Music Academy,

EFICOR and other organizations are pursuing with Music Basti. Making Children’s Day not merely another Day to celebrate, but

integrate it with the larger world movement of the rights for a child. One of the key ideas that Music Basti is looking to share with

the children, as well as anyone who is a part of the outreach of the program, is the fact that human rights are universal. Everyone,

children included, have a right to claim these rights. Children have choices and one is never too young to get involved.

The program designed for Children’s Day, 14th November 2009 is focused on the following key areas:

  • Recognizing that children as partners in this attempt at change
  • Recognizing a child’s right to express himself/herself in a way that he/she wants to
  • Providing the children with a platform to showcase their talent and ideas
  • Providing the music community an opportunity to integrate their talent with music education
  • Identifying more stakeholders and more agencies of change as potential partners and groups

             to share and learn with

  • Attempting to begin to integrate the local community
