The EPPI wants to start a Green Power revolution in India as they believe that imitation is the highest form of flattery. They feel they have brought together ecology and business through the strategy of growing forests with fast growing trees that can be then burnt to produce energy and power. The trees grown are researched extensively. They feel this is a highly workable model and will produce cheap electricity. They think human resource must be deleneated for this venture by looking at the three E?s: Educate, Enable and Empower, and all stakeholders in the venture including politicians and bureaucrats need to be brought into the fold.

Growing Forests to address the Energy Needs
The EPPI wants to start a Green Power revolution in India as they believe that imitation is the highest form of flattery. They feel they have brought together ecology and business through the strategy of growing forests with fast growing trees that can be then burnt to produce energy and power. The trees grown are researched extensively. They feel this is a highly workable model and will produce cheap electricity. They think human resource must be deleneated for this venture by looking at the three E?s: Educate, Enable and Empower, and all stakeholders in the venture including politicians and bureaucrats need to be brought into the fold.
According to them, it is not worthwhile to wait for freebies from the government but go to banks and convince them on the viability of the project, arbitrate between the legal and the financial, and include this into a performance matrix especially of bureaucrats. Educate the villagers and amend laws to enable and deter, formalize local practices, remove fears between the urban and rural, start and run the whole venture like a business but with a ?heart? and keep up public debate.
EPPI has done R&D for 3 years, has collected resources from urban professionals, has maintained a formal attitude, not cut corners, worked within NABARD, been transparent to all stakeholders, to the villagers, govt. officials. They have faced controversies but stuck to the idea that forests can be created to make biomass to generate power. Not to be left as forests, but its trees grown only to burn down- afforestation to produce biomass energy.
